More design thinking at schools

Updated: Jul 14

Lithuania currently is developing new general education curriculum for all grades (1-12). After many discussions and proposals ministry agreed to pilot design thinking based curriculum in one of the study fields. For this field of "technology" was selected.

The group from researchers, teacher practitioners, educators who are familiar with design thinking methodology and design professionals were summoned for this task. It took several months to the group to integrate design thinking throughout all the subject areas, different grades. Just last week their draft proposal of the curriculum was published for the discussions with wider public.

The piloting of the new design thinking based curriculum are planned from next school year (September 2022). There are currently further discussions among the experts that other subject field curriculum could also be based on the design thinking methodology.
